The Troy Howard Middle School and UMaine Hutchinson Center are collaborating to offer a “SUMMER SCIENCE CAMP” for a group of seventh and eight grade girls.  Our effort combines our common vision to engage young students in science.  We are offering a pilot week of half-day “science camp” sessions for 12 middle school students the week of July 22 to 26th.  The program will run from 9:00 am to noon each day.  Scholarships are available.

The camp will expose the students to a variety of scientific inquiry and data collection as well as give the students the opportunity to think through how they will approach several short experiments, practice skills making sense of the data they collect, and interact with PhD scientists who are passionate about science and science education.

Does this interest you or your daughter?  Is she in middle school?  Then contact Molly Schauffler at 338-8038, 338-6370, or email  mschauff@maine.edu because the camp begins on Monday, July 22 at 9:00 on at the Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Ave., Belfast.
