Continuing its expansion, Dream Local Digital welcomes summer internship team, offering cutting edge experience in rapidly growing new media industry
Rockland, Maine — Dream Local Digital, a Maine based digital marketing agency specializing in interactive media, marketing, SEO and social media, continues its broad expansion plans and its mission to grow the new media skills base in Maine by bringing on board a team of eight new and one returning interns. This group comes from a wide variety of backgrounds and will fill various roles this summer, gaining invaluable skills and experience in a rapidly growing and increasingly critical marketing and communications industry being shaped by new media.

Meet this summer’s internship team:
Wendy has discovered a passion for social media and is excited for the opportunity to learn as much as possible through her internship with Dream Local Digital. She is currently a senior atThomas College, majoring in Communications with a Concentration in English with a minor in Marketing. She also works part-time for the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville at the Alfond Youth Center as a customer service representative. Wendy is a Maine native and currently lives in central Maine with her husband and their three active daughters.
John Lake grew up in Falmouth, Maine, and went to Falmouth High School, graduating in 2011. He is currently attending New York University, studying Media, Culture, and Communication and recently returned from a study-abroad program in Madrid, Spain. As a photography and music enthusiast, John enjoys using social media platforms like Soundcloud and Instagram to share and explore his artistic interests. John began interning at Dream Local Digital in the spring of 2013, and is using the experience to gain inside knowledge of the industry that he sees himself one day finding a career in.
Grace LeClair was born and raised in Bangor, Maine and is entering her senior year at Boston College. Having always had an interest in combining both business and creativity, Grace chose to major in Communication and minor in Studio Art with a concentration in photography. With an understanding of the importance of social media for brand recognition and business outreach, Grace is excited to garner new social media skills and learn how to put these practices to use for local businesses. She is also hoping to learn more about web design and development and pursue a career in marketing. Apart from Dream Local Digital, Grace enjoys the outdoors, art, and music. She is happy to be back working and living in Bar Harbor for the summer and enjoying coastal Maine.
Nick is a Maine native who has grown up in the expanding region of Southern Maine. Residing for most of his life in Limington, Nick attended Bonny Eagle High School, graduating in 2010 and going on to attend Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish. He will graduate in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a Business Communication concentration. As an intern at Dream Local Digital Nick hopes to utilize his more than six years of experience in the field of customer service to help not only Maine businesses, but businesses across the country adapt to the paradigm shift from traditional marketing to online marketing. In his free time he likes a good read, basketball, and exercising and taking in nature and wildlife on the game preserve where he lives.
Ian Cook was born and raised in Midcoast Maine. He attended college for one year at the University of Massachusetts before transferring the the University of Maine in Augusta. At the University of Maine he finished his Bachelor of Arts degree in Audio Engineering. While playing as a professional musician throughout college, Ian learned the importance of social media as a marketing tool and for connecting people together. After moving to Portland Maine, he learned that Dream Local Digital was expanding to the area. He felt that an internship with Dream Local Digital would be a great bridge from college to the professional world. Ian enjoys composing and performing music in his spare time. He desire to learn has driven him to have many interests and is eager for more. He is looking forward to expanding upon his experience with using social media as a tool and excited to work with a company based in his Midcoast Maine roots. Ian became an intern at Dream Local in May 2013.
Clevy is a Congo-Kinshasa Native who currently lives in Lewiston, Maine. During his four years as a Business Psychology student, he gravitated towards the marketing portion of his major. Clevy developed an interest for social media marketing after presenting his last senior research project titled, The Correlations between personality traits and evaluations of social media status updates at the University of Maine Farmington. The study introduced him to just how powerful social media could be when applied to the marketing strategies of a business. In his spare time, Clevy enjoys playing soccer, working out, coaching youth soccer and volunteering in his community. Clevy is currently working as a service representative at a call center and hopes that Dream Local increases his knowledge of social media marketing.
Annie McKay was born and raised in Bangor, Maine and has spent the last three years in Hamilton, New York attending Colgate University. As a columnist for her school’s newspaper, Annie began to realize the value of social media as a tool to gain access to the community and discover what students were most interested in and spending their time talking about. This broadened her interest in social media as a useful venue for accessing a large amount of people with ease. Annie has always shown an interest in marketing and hopes to pursue a career the field following her graduation in 2014. In her spare time, Annie works as a waitress, enjoys sports, art, reading, writing, and of course, social media.
Devin Worthington was born and raised in Rochester, NY and is entering his senior year atHobart & William Smith Colleges. Devin chose to major in Media & Society and minor in History. Devin is looking forward to learning about new social media skills and how to put these practices into use in the marketing world. Devin is also excited about learning more about web design and how it relates to the development of local businesses. Apart from Dream Local Digital, Devin is a member of the football team at Hobart & William Smith Colleges and he also enjoys music, food and watching movies.
Returning to the team from last year, Lianne McCluskey has spent the summers home in midcoast Maine interning with Dream Local Digital since 2012. A student at La Salle University in Philadelphia, she is a Communication major with a concentration in Journalism and English. Lianne is a member of the La Salle Women’s Swimming & Diving team, having been competitively swimming since she was five-years-old. She is also a member of La Salle’s Lambda Phi Eta Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and works for the La Salle University Annual Fund. She has written feature stories for the La Salle Collegian and NewsWorks, powered by WHYY in Philadelphia. She enjoys having the opportunity to help local businesses learn how to use social media to reach their audiences and build mutually beneficial relationships with the people they serve, strengthening her writing skills along the way.
Dream Local Digital’s Internship Program supports entry level team members in areas ranging from Social Media Marketing, Search Engine Optimization and Traditional Marketing, to Research, Blogging and Public Relations. Positions are hands-on and involve client interaction, helping to build real-world skills. Seeking teammates with strong marketing and social media skills, or those with a passion to learn more, Dream Local Digital looks for self-sufficient, go-getters, who are not afraid to tackle new challenges independently. By providing this relevant real-world experience from the start, these interns benefit from Dream Local Digital’s expertise in the new media industry and they develop skills that will help them as they move on to their next roles, possibly even returning to Dream Local Digital one day to start a new career on the Dream Team.
