What are you looking for?

Belfast.  The UMaine Hutchinson Center is excited to offer for the first time, ENG 229 Reading and Writing Poetry, this spring semester.

Are you ready for some enjoyable encounters with poetry?  Has the idea of poetry always made you feel both intrigued and at the same time nervous or uncomfortable?

Or have you always found pleasure in the company of poems?  Either way, you’ll develop your own unique voice by writing from fun, playful prompts, listening to and watching poets recite from original works, and reading a variety of poems to better appreciate the essential role poetry has always played in the world.

From haiku to sonnets, you will explore the spectrum.   The class is taught by Joanna Crouse and will meet on Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:00.  The class starts January 17, 2013.  It will be video-conferenced between both Orono and Belfast.  FMI or to register, call the UMaine Hutchinson Center at 338-8000 (or toll free 800-753-9044).
